The protagonist of this painting is a red-haired woman surrounded by prickly pear plants. This plant reminds me of my summers in Sicily, every year I stopped to observe its colors and shades of green enhanced by the colors of the sky and the sea. Behind the woman's hair you can see some prickly pears close together that create a sort of "crown". It is a way to represent the mutual respect that there must be between people and nature, in this case the plants thank the woman with this gesture that I wanted to represent with the "crown". She has some sunflowers, symbol of the sun and life. She is wearing a gorgeous colorful dress and a straw bag with a little daisy. Her white glasses make her face unrecognizable, this is a way I use to bring the viewer to identify with the character and become the protagonist.
