To create this painting I started from reusing recycled materials. The protagonist is a black woman with afro hair, created using cardboard straw to give volume and shape to the curls. She also wears other recyled elements, such as a hair band made using gift wrapping paper in fabric colors and sunglasses and a necklace created from wrapping paper. I chose women as the protagonist to represent the responsibility of all men on Earth to recycle and reuse plastic, paper, etc. to save the environment and the animals that live there.

In the background, an aquarium with some fish that suffer from the excessive amount of waste in the seas making them almost fake, unrecognizable and trapped. In the paper windows, there are the fish of the "future" the ones we would like there to be in the future, therefore healthy, alive, free and in a sea without waste. A goldfish comes out of the "future" box and plunges into the plastic sea, going from colorful and alive to paper and unrecognizable.

With this painting I gave a second life to the materials I had available but in everyday life each of us should always try to reuse instead of throwing away immediately without thinking about it.
