This painting is the second abstract that I make. It is my memory of some beaches in Sicily that I visited in the past summers. The strong sun warmed the sand and reflected its rays, making it shine. The base of the painting is raised in places to give the wavy movement of the sand, in this case it is a horizontal movement, like when we smooth the sand with our hands to flatten it. Furthermore, it is rough to the touch like sand instead I used a material that creates an effect very similar to the real one. The black and pink gold leaf added in small pieces represents those little shells found on beaches. I used a gold acrylic that creates different shadows based on the light that hits it; just like the sand on the beaches, when it is dark it will be darker and during the day it lights up with light.
